  • Iran, Gaza, and ending military aid to Israel hang over Trump and Netanyahu meeting
    Who benefits from this decision?

President Donald Trump will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House this week, with Iran and Gaza topping the agenda. But hanging over the visit is a quieter shift that could reshape America’s alliance with its most important ally.

The meeting is the first one at the White House since Netanyahu announced his plan for Israel to “taper” off its reliance on American military aid over the next decade. Netanyahu’s pitch is tailor-made for Trump’s America First agenda: Phase out billions in U.S. military aid and let Israel buy its own weapons like any other customer.

Yet, while Trump seems unsold, even one of the biggest military hawks within the GOP is on board.

“The aid we have provided to Israel has been a great investment, keeping the IDF strong, sharing technology, and making their military more capable — to the benefit of the United States,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). “The billions in taxpayer dollars that would be saved by expediting the termination of military aid to Israel will and should be plowed back into the U.S. military, which is the best in the world and in great demand.”

Graham, who is facing a primary challenge as he seeks reelection this year, said that given Israel’s strong economy, there is no reason “we need not wait ten years.”

American military aid to Israel has become more controversial for Democrats and some libertarian and America First Republicans since Hamas’ terrorist attack on Oct. 7, 2023, amid criticism of how Israel has prosecuted its war against the terrorist organization in Gaza.

Former President Joe Biden even temporarily paused a shipment of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel in May 2024 in response to concerns regarding the number of civilian casualties.

But the U.S.-Israel military aid relationship, premised on a 10-year memorandum of understanding that is poised to expire in 2028 and its annual provision of about $3.8 billion in military assistance, representing roughly 15 to 20% of Israel’s defense budget, has provided the United States with some leverage over Israel when the two countries have had disagreements in the past.

Council on Foreign Relations senior fellow and Trump’s former special representative to Iran, Elliott Abrams, explained how complicated it could be to convince the president.

“If the issue arises, I think Netanyahu will want assurance that Lindsey Graham’s idea of a much quicker cut off is not taking hold in the administration,” the Vandenberg Coalition …

  • MTG calls Trump's endorsement of Salazar ‘an insult to his base’
    Every delay has consequences.

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed President Donald Trump's endorsement record again after he backed Republican Rep. María Elvira Salazar of Florida for re-election.
"She supports illegals more than most democrats. His endorsements are an insult to his base," Greene wrote Tuesday in a post on X.
Fox News Digital reached out to Salazar's campaign and sent a direct message to the lawmaker on X seeking comment but did not immediately receive a response. The White House also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
EX-TRUMP ALLY MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE RIPS THE PRESIDENT'S ENDORSEMENTS, SAYING THEY ‘SOLIDIFY THE SWAMP’
In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, the president praised Salazar, backing her for re-election as the GOP aims to retain its majority in both chambers of Congress during the 2026 midterms.
"Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar is doing a truly fantastic job representing the wonderful people of Florida’s 27th Congressional District!" Trump wrote in the Truth Social post. "María Elvira Salazar has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election – SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"
The incumbent congresswoman, who has served in the House of Representatives since early 2021, thanked the president for his support.
TRUMP ADMINISTRATION PRESSED TO CLOSE CUBA EMBARGO LOOPHOLE WITH OIL SET TO RUN OUT WITHIN DAYS
"Thank you, President Trump @POTUS, for your support. I will continue to proudly represent FL-27 in Congress and fight for what our community deserves," she wrote in a post on X, listing five points: "Restore dignity and order to our immigration system," "Codify strong, permanent border security," "Drive down housing costs so Miami families can stay and thrive," "Protect American jobs and keep our economy strong" and "Confronting socialism, communism, and dictators head-on while defending freedom across our hemisphere."
"Miami is the ultimate melting pot, a city built by those who came here seeking liberty, opportunity, and a chance to start again. I know their story because it’s my story. In Congress, I will keep delivering results, standing firm on our values, and working to ensure opportunity and prosperity remain within reach for all," she added.
Greene, a longtime staunch Trump ally who left office early last month after a bitter falling out with the president last year, slammed Trump's endorsement track record in January, asserting in a post on X, "Trump’s endorsements do not drain the swamp, his endorsements solidify the swamp and ensure the swamp is never drained."

  • Stewart Harper: Why if you are on the frontline of campaigning – Harrogate this year, matters
    Who benefits from this decision?

Stewart Harper is President of the National Conservative Convention, a member of the Board of the Conservative Party, and chaired the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester in October 2025.

Chairing last year’s Party Conference in Manchester was a personal honour, with many highlights not least of which was the closing speech from our Party Leader.  Every person I have spoken to since then talked about that speech being a turning point.

Across the four days we demonstrated something very important: that when our members come together, we renew not just our message, but our confidence. Our ideas were sharpened, our energy was restored, and the Party reconnected the people who make it work day in, day out.

Since our time in Manchester, Kemi Badenoch and the Shadow Cabinet have continued to work together – to hold the government to account and demonstrate that it is only the Conservative Party who are developing credible and deliverable plans to get Britain working again.

We are continuing that in Harrogate.

But the truth is, we can’t succeed unless the strengths demonstrated in Manchester percolate throughout the Party.  Put it simply, as I said in my opening speech at Conference – Kemi, and the Shadow Cabinet, cannot do it alone. The momentum we have built together must not be kept in a box until the Party Conference comes around again. So this March, Spring Conference returns – this year at the Harrogate Convention Centre – and every Party Member should join us.

Here’s why: Spring Conference brings together activists, councillors, candidates and volunteers from across the country for a weekend focused on ideas, skills and connection.  Not sitting still, determining what we might do in three years’ time, but actively developing ourselves and our movement in that renewal – the fruits of which are already visible.

Delivered in partnership with the Campaign Academy and the Conservative Councillors’ Association, the programme is designed to be practical and engaging. And unapologetically optimistic about the Party’s future. And it’s an opportunity to socialise together too – including with a members’ dinner on Saturday night – meeting up with friends and colleagues from across the country.

So, will you join us in Harrogate?

Our Spring Conference offers members a valuable opportunity to hear directly from senior figures within the Party, including the most senior members of the Shadow Cabinet, and to gain first-hand insight into a growing and evolving renewal programme. It is a chance for every Party Member to engage – not through headlines or soundbites, but through thoughtful discussion and shared experience.

Alongside the political content, Spring Conference is firmly focused on delivery.

  • FAA halts flights out of El Paso Airport for ten days for ‘security reasons’
    Confidence requires clarity.

Arriving and departing flights out of El Paso International Airport in El Paso, Texas, have been suspended for ten days, the Federal Aviation Administration announced early Wednesday morning. The decision to halt air traffic was due to “special security reasons” and was revealed in an alert on the FAA’s official “Notice to Air Missions” or NOTAM website.

The order was issued without advance notice and went into effect on Feb. 10 at 11:30 p.m. local time, according to multiple sources. However, NOTAM mentioned that the airspace restriction at El Paso began on “Feb. 11 at 0630 UTC.”

“No pilots may operate an aircraft in the areas covered by this NOTAM (except as described),” read information posted in an “Operating Restrictions and Requirements” section. “EXCLUDING MEXICAN AIRSPACE.”

The official reason posted on the NOTAM for the closure was “Temporary flight restrictions for Special Security Reasons.” The restrictions are listed as being scheduled to end on “Feb. 21, 2026 at 0630 UTC.”

No other information has been provided about the closures at this time.

TRUMP SOWS DOUBTS ABOUT 2026 ELECTION IN EFFORT TO SELL NATIONAL VOTER ID LAW

El Paso International Airport is considered a “major medium-hub” which services over 4 million passengers annually and nearly 98,000 “aircraft operations.” It has three runways and 15 gates in its terminal. Among the airlines that utilize the airport are Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines.

The Washington Examiner sent an email to the FAA inquiring about the details of the airport closure, but has not received a response at the time of publication of this article.

  • GOP lawmaker shocked after anti-ICE sheriff was stumped by 'fifth-grade civics' question
    This isn't complicated—it's willpower.

North Carolina Republican state Rep. Allen Chesser said he was taken by surprise when a Democratic sheriff who has long opposed cooperating with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could not answer a basic question about how the government works.
A North Carolina House Oversight Committee hearing spurred on by the recent killing of a young Ukrainian woman, Iryna Zarutska, in Charlotte, took an unexpected turn when Chesser asked Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden, "What branch of government do you operate under?"
McFadden, who is the top law enforcement officer in the county where Zarutska was killed, simply answered, "Mecklenburg County," prompting Chesser to repeat, "What branch of government do you operate under, sheriff?"
The sheriff answered, "The Constitution of the United States," to which Chesser responded, "That is what establishes the branches of government; I’m asking what branch you fall under."
After McFadden answered, "Mecklenburg County" again, Chesser remarked, "This is not where I was anticipating getting stuck. Um, are you aware of how many branches of government there are?" The sheriff quickly shot back, "No."
CHARLOTTE LIGHT-RAIL STABBING MURDER SPURS LANDMARK CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM FROM NORTH CAROLINA REPUBLICANS
After a long pause, Chesser continued, "For the sake of debate, let’s say there are three branches of government: legislative, executive, judicial. Of those three, which do you fall under?"
The sheriff answered, "I believe I fall under the last one … judicial."
"You are incorrect, sir. You fall under the executive," said Chesser.
After this, Chesser continued to press McFadden about how he reconciles his responsibility as an officer under the executive branch to enforce the law with his opposition to cooperation with ICE. Chesser asked McFadden how he reconciled his responsibility with a previous statement in which the sheriff said, "We do not have a role in enforcement whatsoever, we do not have to follow the rules and the laws that are governed by our lawmakers in Raleigh."
The sheriff said that Chesser was taking his quote out of context, saying it was strictly in reference to immigration enforcement.
Though declining to offer more context on the statement, McFadden affirmed his office is now abiding by state law requiring cooperation with ICE, saying, "We follow the law, when the law is produced, we follow the law."

  • FBI to search Arizona residence of detained person of interest in Nancy Guthrie case
Ask why this angle was chosen.

The FBI’s Evidence Response Team, in conjunction with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, is conducting a “court-authorized search” of a residence in Rio Rico, Arizona, on Tuesday night as part of the investigation of the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of broadcast journalist Savannah Guthrie. The search comes after law enforcement officials detained a person of interest in connection with Guthrie’s disappearance.

The FBI announced the court-authorized search late Tuesday night and said it is expected to last several hours, according to multiple reports. Reports of the search were also shared on various social media accounts.

“From FBI source to @CBSNews: Currently, the FBI’s Evidence Response Team is assisting the Pima County Sheriff’s Department with a court-authorized search of a location in Rio Rico, AZ related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” posted Amelia Mugavero, a CBS News Texas reporter. “Law enforcement will be present at this location for several hours. We’re asking the public and media to avoid congesting the area.”

The residence being searched is that of the person who was detained, according to reports.

A video on X posted by “Arizona’s Family” producer Mac Colson showed a woman claiming that law enforcement officials were searching her house as part of the Guthrie investigation. She said that her son-in-law was being questioned by police “in connection with Guthrie’s disappearance.”

“BREAKING: Woman tells reporters that authorities are searching her home in Rio Rico,” read Colson’s post. “She says her son-in-law, Carlos, is being questioned by police in connection to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. She says Carlos is a delivery man for FedEx.”

The woman in the video expressed shock at the police presence at her house and at the search of her home. She said she didn’t know why they were doing so, and also that she had nothing to hide.

Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Federal Reserve, has promised a “regime change” at the central bank, a goal that could include overhauling or cutting staffing.

Warsh, 55, has been nominated to replace outgoing Fed Chairman Jerome Powell after Powell’s term ends in May. There has been much speculation about how Warsh will conduct monetary policy and shrink the Fed’s balance sheet. Less noted, though, is that he has signaled he would implement personnel changes at the central bank as well.

WARSHACH TEST: TRUMP’S FED CHAIRMAN PICK KEEPS MONETARY ANALYSTS GUESSING

It’s unclear if Warsh intends to conduct major staffing cuts at the Fed headquarters should he be confirmed, but he has indicated in interviews that there is “deadwood” at the independent agency and that change will involve “breaking some heads.”

Some Fed critics have argued that the Fed is bloated and spends too much. A number of free-market conservatives and Republicans also contend that the Fed board is biased toward Democrats and tends to support greater government intervention in the markets.

Stephen Moore, a chairman and co-founder of the group Unleash Prosperity and a former adviser to Trump, supports free markets and the repeal of regulations, telling the Washington Examiner that he would like to see personnel cuts from Warsh.

“They’re all Keynesians,” Moore said, using a term that refers to adherents of the economic theories promoted by the British economist John Maynard Keynes. “They’re the people who gave us 9% of inflation. So get rid of them. You know, just downsize the Fed. You don’t need 3,000 economists and advisors over there.”

According to its most recent numbers, the Fed has just under 3,200 employees at the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., and over 20,000 at its regional banks across the country.

Larry Kudlow spoke with Warsh about the staff during an interview last year. He pointed out that Fed staff donate overwhelmingly more to Democrats than Republicans. In 2024, staff donations to Democrats made up 92% of total staff donations. Kudlow said that personnel “matters a lot.”

Warsh responded by saying that the “good news” is that in his experience, there is “still a huge amount of talent” at the Fed.

“But there’s also plenty of deadwood,” Warsh added. “There are also people that need to adjust their thinking to a modern economy.”

During an interview on Fox Business in July, Warsh said that the Fed has “lost its way” and that there needs to …

  • FBI searches Arizona residence of detained person of interest in Nancy Guthrie case
    Notice what's missing.

The FBI’s Evidence Response Team, in conjunction with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, conducted a “court-authorized search” of a residence in Rio Rico, Arizona, on Tuesday night as part of the investigation of the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of broadcast journalist Savannah Guthrie. The search comes after law enforcement officials detained a person of interest in connection with Guthrie’s disappearance.

The FBI announced the court-authorized search late Tuesday night and said it was expected to last several hours, according to multiple reports.

PERSON OF INTEREST DETAINED FOR QUESTIONING IN NANCY GUTHRIE ABDUCTION CASE

“I don’t know, they came to us that somebody gave a tip that the lady was in my house,” the woman in the video said in reference to Nancy Guthrie. “We don’t know, we don’t know her at all. I don’t know who she is, I don’t know anything about her. They only said that they gave a tip that she was in my house and I told them ‘you can go in and search my house, there’s nobody there. I have nothing to hide, there’s nobody in my house, and I don’t know what’s going on.”

  • Term Limits
    Same show, different day.

Trump has repeatedly said he supports term limits for members of Congress (often proposing 3 House terms and 2 Senate terms). Several constitutional amendment resolutions have been introduced in Congress to do this, but they’re currently stalled in committee with no meaningful progress.
To actually impose term limits on Congress, it would require a constitutional amendment, which means2/3 of both the House and Senate would have to approve it, and then 3/4 of state legislatures (38 states) would have to ratify it. That’s an extremely high bar, and no such amendment has ever come close to passing.
Separately, Trump has at times floated ideas about serving more than two presidential terms, but the 22nd Amendment clearly limits presidents to two elected terms. Changing that would require the same amendment process.
So at this point there’s political rhetoric and proposals on paper, but no real legislative momentum.
Curious what you all think? Should it be a priority? Does it have any chance?
Personally, I am sick of reps making the people work for them versus them working for the people, yet I am very nervous of the house and senate being filled with young, dumb Mandamis.
