GOP Lawmakers Vow to Fight Radical Islam

Lawmakers of the Sharia Free America Caucus’ told reporters on Tuesday that they will continue to “fight back” against “radical Islam,” which they claim has “infiltrated” the United States.
“Sharia is inconsistent with Western civilization,” the caucus’s co-founder Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, said. “We are not going to allow Dallas or Houston or any other great American city become London or Paris.”
Will The Caucus Move to Kick Ilhan Omar Out of Congress?
During the press conference, Rep. Keith Self, R-Texas, claimed elected officials such as Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani are “facilitators” of Sharia Law in the United States.
“I can’t talk for the caucus here, but I certainly can for myself,” told The Daily Signal. “Yeah, absolutely.”
When asked by The Daily Signal if a link between an elected official and Sharia Law is grounds for removal from Congress, Self said, “Congress has rules about how to do that, so we’ll work through that process with leadership, but I will tell you there is no appetite across the conference to do that,” Self-added.
Other members, like Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., also questioned Omar’s embrace of sharia law during the press conference.
“If people like Ilhan Omar love this way of life back home, why don’t you just move the hell back, Tuberville stated. “This is our country; our great, great grandparents built this country. 250 years, this is our birthday, and we do not want to change to a third-world country.”
Omar and Mamdani did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment.
The Council of American-Islamic Relations called Tuberville’s remarks “openly racist” and “dangerously misleading,” in a statement issued on Wednesday. CAIR then described the Alabama senator as a member of a “newly-formed anti-Muslim caucus in Congress” and stated that claims like Tuberville’s “fuels hatred and intimidation against Muslims and immigrants nationwide.”
During the press conference, however, Tuberville stated that the caucus’s priorities and their remarks are only directed towards the people who refuse to “assimilate to our culture” and currently “practice sharia law,” not all Muslims.
“Roughly five million Muslim’s live in this country,” Tuberville said.
“We do have people who are Muslim’s in this country, or of Muslim descent, who do not practice sharia law, and they are welcome, because they want to assimilate to our culture,” the senator continued.
“But woke states like Michigan, Minnesota, and New Jersey are replacing American civic norms with radical Islamic policies,” Tuberville added.
‘Wake Up, America’
“Radical Islam is not a religion; it is a political organization run by terrorists. Islamic extremism has infiltrated the U.S. and is refusing to assimilate,” the senator continued. “What’s even worse than that is that many of them are openly admitting that they are here to destroy our country and kill Americans.”
“We owe to the people that built this country and owe to our kids and grandkids to save this country from this cult that has taken over,” Tuberville added. “Every second of every day, they are making progress.”
