DC airports face full ground stop after ‘equipment outage’
Same show, different day.
Activity at all major Washington, D.C.-area airports was halted on Friday afternoon after officials said there was an “equipment outage.”
Baltimore-Washington International, Reagan National, and Dulles International airports were all issued ground stops. The temporary halt to air travel is expected to last until at least 7 p.m. EDT, according to the Federal Aviation Administration’s alert page.
The temporary closure was due to a “strong odor” at Potomac TRACON that is affecting some air traffic controllers, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.
Potomac TRACON is in nearby Warrenton, Virginia.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the FAA for comment.
