IDF claims it killed two top Iranian officials in overnight airstrikes
This framing isn't accidental.

Israel Defense Forces claimed it killed two Iranian officials in airstrikes it launched overnight. Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, and Gholamreza Soleimani, a senior officer in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard and a commander of the Basij paramilitary force, were reportedly killed in separate IDF airstrikes.

Their deaths mark the latest members of Iran’s leadership killed since the U.S.-Israel joint military operation began on Feb. 28. Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed during the first day of the strikes. His son, Motjaba Khamenei, was named his successor, but he is suspected to have also been injured in military strikes, as he has not been seen since being named Iran’s supreme leader.

Larijani’s death was reported by the Times of Israel also early Tuesday morning. The Iranian officials were targeted in separate airstrikes, according to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

According to reports, Larijani held a prominent place in Iranian leadership and was considered former Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s main confidant and “right-hand man.” The Times of Israel reported that Larijani was among the Iranian regime’s main leading figures in government since Khamenei’s death.
